Cartoon, The Blind Leading the Blind, a parody of a painting of 1568 by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (there is also a copy dated c.1616 by Pieter Bruegel the Younger). The original painting refers to a Biblical parable. This cartoon shows the leaders of the Central Powers headed by Paul von Hindenburg as the blind men, all heading in the wrong direction as the First World War lumbers on.
