Catherine Douglas trying to save the life of King James I of Scotland. Catherine was a lady-in-waiting to the Queen. According to legend, when men arrived to assassinate James, Catherine put her arm through the staples of the door to stop them entering. They broke the door down and broke her arm, and the King was killed. After this, Catherine adopted the surname Barlass.
