Description | Ceremony in a Megalithic burial mound |
Details |
A reconstruction drawing by Alan Sorrell designed to give an impression of the ceremonies associated with the holiest part of a Megalithic burial mound - the right-hand recess of the cruciform chamber. It is assumed that the dead chieftain was cremated outside the mound and that his ashes were then gathered together and deposited on the stone basin. Drawing done to illustrate an article about the excavation of the Knowth burial mound by Dr George Eogan.
