Description | Cholera in Egypt |
Details |
Scene in the courtyard of a house in Cairo. The patients were laid in the courtyard partly because of the cooler temperatures and also because the occupants were afraid of infection. The particular strain of cholera found in Egypt was not the same as the one found in India. It was thought to have originated from oxen carcasses left unburied at the banks of the Nile.
