Illustration by Steven Spurrier showing women selecting fancy dress costumes to wear on the Riviera at Gala events during the Carnival season. Costumes had to worn to a prescribed colour scheme each year (1925 was cerise and silver), and fabrics had to be silk, silk satin or velvet satin.
