Colonel (later General) Sir Redvers Henry Buller (1839 - 1908), (centre, on horse) rescuing Captain D'Arcy during a skirmish with Zulu warriors on Inhlobane Mountain, 1879. In recognition of three acts of bravery at Inhlobane, including this one, Sir Redvers Buller was awarded the Victoria Cross.
