Date 1943
Description Dambusters - flood devastation
Details

Aerial photograph taken a few hours after the breach was made of the Moehne Dam in the Ruhr Valley by the famous dambusters raid in May 1943. It shows the diminishing waters in the upper reaches of the Moehne Lake at a point near Korbeccke where a road bridge crossed it. The lake was very nearly drained away with only a narrow river left in what was once a great stretch of water.
