David Lloyd George (1863-1945), as Secretary for War, touring the British front in France, September 1916. He is pictured here (second from right) with Lord Reading (1860-1935), Liberal politician and Lord Chief Justice who accompanied him on his visit (on left). After the war Lord Reading was British ambassador to the United States of America and Viceroy of India until 1926.
