Troops departing from Euston Station, London, to Manchester and other industrial districts of Lancashire to supress the riots and strikes there. An armed police escort was necessary as hostile crowds gathered and attempted to force their way into the railway yard. Batons, fists and swords are used to control the mob; in the foreground a woman clutching a baby is pushed to the ground by a policeman.
