Fusilier Derek Godfrey Kinne, of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, who was awarded the George Cross in recognition of his gallant and distinguished services while a prisoner of war in Korea. Captured in April 1951, he escaped twice and was tortured by the Chinese on being recaptured.
