Description | Dior debutante fashion show at the Berkeley Hotel, 1953 |
Details |
The Debutante Dress Show at the Berkeley Hotel with new Dior fashions designed especially for London. Illustration on the left shows Sara Gore modelling a slim, grey tailored suit with a white pique cravat and gloves to match. On the right, Rosemary Villiers shows to advantage an afternoon dress in lightweight grey wool with a tailored bodice, cap sleeves and fine pleats set into the skirt. The ball dress worn by Penelope Yolland was encrusted with silver sequins and bugle beads. Pearl grey net formed the skirt which was gathered in a pleat at each side. Camilla Beddington wears a black, strapless cocktail dress of corded silk with a white taffeta stole and Lady Rose Blight modelled a bridal gown in filmy organza embroidered with white lilies and gold leaves. It had an enormously full skirt, demure neckline and wrist-hugging sleeves.
