Photograph of the Duke 1894-1972 and Duchess of Windsor 1896-1986 walking together. The Duke of Windsor chose to abdicate the throne in 1936 in order to marry the divorced Wallis Simpson. Estranged from the British royal family they lived in France and the Bahamas and were celebrities in the international social scene.
