A smiling Duke of Windsor poses for photographers with Mrs Wallis Simpson at the Chateau de Cande, near Tours, France in May 1937. Formerly King Edward VIII, he abdicated the throne in December 1936 in order to marry Mrs Simpson, a twice-divorced American. They married at the Chateau on the 3rd June 1937.
