Photograph showing Dutch civilians filing past the execution ground of Breendonck fort, Belgium, 1944. This fort, situated between Brussels and Antwerp, was used by Nazi security services during their occupation of Belgium between 1940-44. As such, it was the scene of many Nazi atrocities. Many of the people shown in the image had had relatives executed by the Nazis there and had come to pay their last respects.
