Description | Edward the Martyr is murdered |
Details |
Having been murdered at Corfe Castle, Edward the Martyr's body is discovered by a blind woman, near her house. In this version of the events, the dying King had presumably been carried there by his horse, which can be seen in the background. Edward had been visiting his stepmother Aelfthryth at Corfe, and it has been suggested that she was behind the killing.
