Description | Edward VII's racing victories |
Details |
Montage showing Edward VII leading in Minoru, his 1909 Derby winner. The King is just seen underneath the top hat he is raising. Three other of the King's Derby winners are laid over the image; Diamond Jubilee (1900 - top), Persimmon (1896, left) and Minoru, the winner of the King's last Derby before his death in 1910. Among Edward's numerous social and leisure pursuits, horse-racing was very much one of his favourites, even hearing with gratification of racing success on his death-bed.
