MISS EILEEN NEARNE (1921 - 2010), a member of Britain's Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War Two. Served in occupied France as a radio operator. In July 1944 she was arrested by the Gestapo and tortured but disclosed no information. Sent to Ravensbrueck and then Torgau concentration camps. Escaped in April 1945 and survived the war.
