Description | Elymas Struck Blind, after Raphael |
Details |
Elymas Struck Blind, or The Conversion of the Proconsul, after a cartoon for a tapestry by Raphael, Italian renaissance artist. At the time the cartoon was in an exhibition at Hampton Court, West London. It shows the New Testament story when St Paul was preaching to the Roman proconsul of Paphos, Sergius Paulus. He was heckled by Elymas, whom Paul miraculously caused to go temporarily blind, which led to the conversion of the proconsul.
