Description Engine House at the Metropolitan Main Drainage Works 1865
Details

Visit of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) to open the Metropolitan Main Drainage Works at Crossness. Number of visitors in the engine room of the works, which were built by Sir Joseph Bazalgette as part of an improved drainage and sewage system for London. The building shown is now better known as the Crossness Pumping Station.
