Description | Entirely female army, September 1897 |
Details |
Hypothetical depiction of "the next great war", showing an army made up entirely of female soldiers riflemen and artillery, one of which lies dead on the grass. Presumably a comment on the changing social role of women in the 19th century and their increased importance outside the domestic sphere.
