Sir Ernest Shackleton's air-propelled sledges, intended for use in the Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917). Shown here operating as air-propelled water boats. Below is a drawing of a new kind of dome-shaped tent which can be converted into a snow igloo for added warmth.
