Details |
Evelyn Nesbit, aka Mrs Harry Thaw, pictured with Mr. Clifford with whom she was performing at the London Hippodrome revue, Hello Ragtime in 1913. A famous beauty who had appeared on countless magazine covers, she was at the centre of a scandalous murder when her mentally unstable husband, mad with jealousy, shot the architect Stanford White, because White had seduced Evelyn when she was a young woman. Albert de Courville brought her to London to appear at the Hippodrome, just at the point her husband had escaped from prison, renewing interest in her celebrity. She is pictured with Mr. Clifford who was an expert in ragtime dances such as the Turkey Trot and Grizzly Bear.
