Description Execution of a 'Petroleuse'; Paris Commune, 1871
Details

Execution of a female Communard by Versailles Government troops. At the end of the Paris Commune many of the revolutionaries set fires all over Paris, to keep the Versailles troops at bay. Female fire setters, known as 'Petroleuses', were later hunted down and shot.
