Off to the Front: Exodus of Germans at Liverpool Street Station on the August bank holiday evening, at the start of the First World War, . They were excursionists and reservists hurrying back home to fight for the Fatherland. Similar scenes took place at Victoria and Charing Cross stations, with Frenchmen hurrying home.
