Sir Harold Delf Gillies (1882 - 1960), amateur golfer, founder of British plastic surgery. Born in New Zealand, he joined the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War I, where he witnessed many horrific injuries. This experience initiated the beginning of an pioneering career, revolutionising plastic surgery.
