Professional golfer Henry Cotton, 1907- 1987. Henry Cotton became a professional golfer at 17, he won the British Open three times in his career. During World War II he organised golf matches in aid of the Red Cross. He was known to be a flamboyant character, with a love for the finer things in life. Before his death in 1988 he accepted a knighthood which was awarded on the day that he died.
