Description | Fashion inspired by Tatler magazine and Eve, WW1 |
Details |
A double page spread of fashion sketches showing clothing inspired by Eve, The Tatler magazine's fictional gossip columnist drawn by Annie Fish whose popularity extended to her appearing in her own sketch (impersonated by actress Phyllis Dare) in a revue, Tina, at the Adelphi Theatre in 1916. The outfits Eve was drawn in and subsequently appeared on stage, influenced the fashions seen on this page from a variety of London department stores and typify the styles of the period - shorter, very full skirts, high waists, A-line coats and high collars. The striking check sports suit on the right is from Burberry's.
