Details

A selection of ladies fashions from the Paris designers, April 1872. From left to right: 'Toilette de Diner', trimmed with a deep flounce and covered with a white lace tunic; the dress decorated with lace trim and blue velvet bows. 'Toilette de Visite', a pearl grey dress with a darker cashmere tunic trimmed with embroidered designs. A long fringe combining both shades of grey forms a train at the back. 'Toilette de Promenade Pompadour', the under skirt is made from sky blue taffeta, covered by a white tunic spotted with bouquets of flowers. The front is fastened with blue velvet bows and falls each side at points which are trimmed with blue taffeta. 'Toilette de visitee' a demi-traine, the under skirt mignonette green trimmed with three ruches of a darker shade. The upper skirt forms a tablier at the front, falls in rounded points at each side. The head dress made of rice straw is encirculed with a garland of white periwinkle. A large veil of embroidered white tulle covers all of the hat and is fastened under the chin.
