Description | Fashions for the 1927 debutante |
Details |
A page of beautiful illustrations by Anne Rochester outlining the essential items required by the season's debutante, inlcuding a georgette wrapper (dressing gown) patterened with cherries, crepe de chine underwear, in the circle a transformation hair style to which plumes and a veil can be easily attached. The dress at the bottom is from Debenham and Freebody in white silk net and taffeta, with a train of Brussels applique lace (the net allowing a longer skirt length as Queen Mary disapproved of short skirts), The wrap, to keep warm during the long hours of waiting before presentation is from Dickens and Jones, the ostrich feather fan from Asprey, the bouquet of iris from Goodyear and the kid shoes from Lilley and Skinner.
