FELIKS TOPOLSKI (1907 - 1989), Polish-born British expressionist painter. Became an official war artist during World War Two - gained British citizenship in 1947. Photographed in his London studio while painting Oedipus Rex based on a part by Sir Laurence Olivier, with the preliminary sketches made in the wings of the New Theatre.
