Female warden in a steel helmet reading over the latest regulations with another warden, holding a helmet, in the middle of a busy Westminster street. Female wardens made up an estimated 1/6 of the c.1.4 million who served, although the Sphere notes the warden's gender in the caption "the steel helmet becomes familiar feminine headwear".
