Photograph showing Field-Marshal Montgomery riding a white Arab stallion, Germany. This horse was procured by the Germany army in 1941, with the intention that General Rommel should ride into Cairo, if the Germans captured the city. They did not, and when the horse was captured at a depot in Schleswig-Holstein, the British sent it to their commander to ride.
