Description | Filming the 1937 Coronation |
Details |
A diagrammatic drawing by Douglas Macpherson of the window constructed behind the tomb of St Aymer de Valence in the Abbey sanctuary and looking in on the Coronation theatre where the crowning of King George VI took place. Through this, the cinematograph operators obtained their record of the ceremony having an almost perfect position for their work but at the same time being almost completely hidden from view. The chamber was rendered sound-proof by plate glass in the slot window and by padding the walls.
