Details

Fire at Nottingham Castle. When residents of the notorious Nottingham slums rioted in 1831 (in protest against the Duke of Newcastle's opposition to the Reform Act 1832) they burned down the mansion. Note the people celebrating the fire in the foreground of the picture.
