First Avenue Hotel, London and inset view of the Entrance Hall. art of Frederick Gordon's Hotel Group, which specialised in appealing to American visitors (hence the name!), the building survived until 1940 when it was completely gutted and destroyed by the Luftwaffe in the Blitz. The Chinese entrance hall (pictured) was complete with moon gate, Chinese roof tiles and Qing Dynasty furniture!
