PUNIC WARS : Gaius Lutatius Catulus wins a major naval victory, defeating Hanno the Great's Carthaginian fleet at the Battle of the Aegates Islands or Aegusa (the Aegadian Islands, off the western coast of Sicily), capturing 70 vessels and sinking 50 others.
