Humorous colour illustration by George Ernest Studdy (1878-1948) showing Bonzo the dog, dressed in British military uniform, exchanging hearts with his sweetheart, a Pekingese dog. Studdy created Bonzo for The Sketch magazine in the early 1920s. He was hugely popular with the character spawning a range of merchandise from plush toys to ink wells.
