Details

Building a ‘Dreadnought’, at Barrow-in-Furness. Digging out the upper half of a Dreadnought turbine cover. The’dressing’ shop in the large iron foundry of the works of ‘Vickers, Sons’ and ‘Maxim’. Showing the sand being removed from the casting by seven men with the length 20 ft and weighing about 25 tons, turbine cover just a tiny part of the battleship took three weeks to cast.
