Four scenes from the Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. Top left: Parisians on one of the Boulevards. Bottom left: a butcher's shop selling dog and cat meat. Top right: view from the terrace of St Germain. Bottom right: people strolling on the Boulevards before the capitulation. Reproduced in the early days of the First World War, in the hope that these scenes will not be repeated as the German army invades France again.
