Sir Frederick Handley Page (1885 - 1962), aircraft industry pioneer, known as the father of the heavy bomber. During the First World War, he developed the Handley Page O/100, first flown in December 1915 which signalled the beginning of the Handley Page company's reputation for building large aircraft. During the war it was further developed into the O/400 and O/1500 bombers.
