Description | French and British soldiers united on the battlefield |
Details |
Friendships forged for ever upon the battlefield. Two soldiers, one a British private, the other a French artillery sergeant, lying in the deep shadow of the trees not far from the Lys river to the south of Hazebrouck in the Foret de la Nieppe. Both were wounded and had lost their way; the curé's dog was watching and fetched help. A rather sentimental depiction.
