Details |
In Toulon arsenal: Stamping 75" projectiles intended for Salonika and varnishing. Before being sent out, shells are stamped with the manufacturing arsenal mark and date of completion. Thus in case of official inquiry in connection with them, there records can be traced to issuing establishment. Upper photograph: Women stamping 75" shells before being shipped out to Salonika. Lower photograph: Men varnishing inside the explosives chamber, and outside. Interior varnishing prevented dangerous friction being set up in transporting.
