From Palace to Tomb, Episode 1: Pharaoh falls ill, the exorcist is called in. First in a series of historical reconstructions by Fortunino Matania in The Sphere magazine's Egypt number (following the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb), tracing the journey of a Pharaoh from palace to tomb. Depicted here is the visit of an exorcist summoned by the wife of a gravely ill pharaoh. He brings some little figures possessing sufficient power to drive away the evil spirit which is possessing the body of the sick ruler He utters a powerful incantation and promises improvement in the patient's condition. He is rewarded with gold, but the patient grows steadily worse. A doctor is brought in, too late to save the dying Pharaoh.
