Front cover from the special number of the Illustrated London News, prepared in advance for the coronation of King Edward VIII. Edward was never crowned; in December 1936 he abdicated from the throne in order to marry the American divorcee, Wallis Simpson. The number contains representations of the ceremony that never happened as well a blank pages, awaiting photographs that never appeared.
