Front cover from the special number of the Illustrated London News, for the coronation of King George VI. This was adapted from a special number prepared in advance for the coronation of his brother Edward who was never crowned; in December 1936 he abdicated from the throne in order to marry the American divorcee, Wallis Simpson.
