Details

Piper Kenneth McLennan of the Highland Light Infantry leads a successful attack on a Turkish redoubt, playing his bagpipes to encourage his comrades. He was subsequently awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal 'for playing his pipes during the attack and advancing with the line after his pipes had been shattered by shrapnel, and heartening the wounded under fire.'
