King George VI opening the Festival of Britain from the steps of St Paul's Cathedral, City of London, at noon on Thursday 3 May 1951. On the steps on the left can be seen his wife Queen Elizabeth, his daughter Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, his second daughter Princess Margaret, and his mother Queen Mary. Among the politicians on the right are Winston Churchill, Herbert Morrison, Anthony Eden and Clement Attlee.
