Stockbroker Gerald Lee Bevan's first appearance in the Guildhall police court, to meet the charges of fraud brought against him. Previously Chairman of the City Equitable Fire Insurance Company, Bevan fled the country when the company failed, but was arrested in Vienna and brought to stand trial in England.
