The first Nazi raid on Britain: the Firth of Forth attack. A fruitless German glide-bombing attack on the Forth Bridge. On the left, an explosion near the destroyer Mohawk (above), and the cruisers Southampton and Edinburgh opening fire (below). On the right, the raiders attacking the bridge, then gliding steeply down out of the sun to confuse the AA gunners.
