Details |
View of the Ladies' Gallery in the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh during a meeting in which four-times Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone undertook his tour of Midlothian during a US-style campaign which saw the elderly statesman come out of the retirement to take the ultra-Tory seat. Orchestrated by Lord Rosebery, Gladstone undertook a tour of the area which was highly publicised. He travelled on a Pullman train from which he was able to address gathered crowds.
